In March at the Bermuda Government Sports Awards, sanda athletes Sentwali Woolridge and Reyel Bowen were both awarded with Achievement Awards for their outstanding accomplishments in 2014. These included both of these athletes winning gold in their respective categories at the Pan American Wushu Championships as well as the Pan Am Sanda Cup. In addition Sentwali Woolridge placed second at the Sanda World Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia. Sentwali was also runner-up for the Athlete of the Year Award at the ceremony.  

Recently, Bermuda Sanshou Association was voted Island Stats Sports Personality Team of the Year. Garon Wilkinson, President of the Bermuda Wushu Association placed in the top three for Coach of the Year and Sentwali also placed in the top three for Athlete of the Year by Island Stats.  

Receiving recognition by the Bermudian government, and winning these awards, is another big step in the development of wushu for Bermuda Wushu, which continues to strive to continuously improve the level of the sport in Bermuda and in Pan America.
